First edition of Komroff's historical novel set during the French Revolution, illustrated with four striking full-page wood engravings by Polia Chentoff. Published by Edward W. Titus at his Paris press, noted during the 1920s for finely produced English-language limited and illustrated books. Chentoff was a Russian-born artist and printmaker associated with the Paris emigre artistic community, whose bold expressionist wood engravings complement the subject matter rather well. . Near Fine.
