Rhodes thanks him for his letter and invitation, explaining that she is playing in a hockey match on Saturday afternoon but hopes to call afterwards. Born Annie Kathleen Rhodes, Kathlyn Rhodes was a prolific writer of popular romantic and adventure fiction. Her books included The Will of Allah, The Desert Dreamers and The Wax Image and Other Stories. Sladen was a widely travelled author, critic and anthologist whose large literary acquaintance included many prominent writers and artists of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. .
