American, Annie Smith Peck was a pioneer in mountaineering and travelling as well as being a noted speaker on suffrage and feminism. She wrote four books encouraging travel, adventure and exploration. This one, flying over South America, was her last, written when she was around 80 years old, and is about her seven-month trip in an aeroplane. She wanted to prove how safe commercial flying was and what could be achieved. She was a pioneer into her later years. She chartered the trip and set off travelling pretty much every where in South America including crossing the Andes, Argentina and Brazil. It is remarkable to think how extensively she travelled at that stage of her life, covering 20,000 miles in doing so. It is rare to find this first edition in the dust wrapper and in this condition. . Very Good. Hardcover. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. 1932.
