Jack (1910) 4to; gilt blocked cloth with an image on the front of J.M.W Turner with his palette and paints, also ruled in gilt and lettered on the front and spine; with a circle in gilt on the lower board displaying an image of Turner's signature, with rough cut edges; with the scarce dust wrapper mirroring the design of the book; and the scarce card box showing the same illustration of Turner too; pp. 286; the book is in a stunning near fine condition with very little wear to speak off, a handful of pages are spotted; the dust wrapper is in very good condition, the inner flaps are spotted and there is a tear to the spine, as well as spine ends, and on the lower edge of the lower panel, there are also tears and small amounts of loss to the corners; the box is good only, it is market and there is an abrasion to the lower panel, along with some moderate stains, overall the book is near fine, jacket very good and box good only. A first edition of Charles Hind's biography of William Turner. Hind was a well-respected art critic and some time editor of the Pall Mall Budget. He took the title of this book from a quote attributed to John Constable: "Turner has some golden visions, glorious and beautiful".  The book has fifty tipped in colour plates of Turner's paintings. Hind first described the impact Turner had on him, through his painting 'the view of Orvieto' and then wrote a biography, whilst giving comment to the paintings that are tipped into the book, in chronological order. an attractive looking and informative book on J.M.W.
