A later adventure / espionage novel from Buchan that has a lot of what he was renowned for. It follows the deeds of Andrew Melfort, who, after doing a stretch for a crime committed by his ex-wife, maurades behind enemy lines in the great war, goes on a hunt for a missing explorer and then post war, races to the rescue of the German public to try and foil a plot to overthrow the German Government.
