The Souls of the Streets and Other Little Papers.

RANSOME, Arthur.

  • Published: 1904 , London: Brown Langham,
London: Brown Langham, , 1904. First edition, first impression, of what Ransome "considered his first book (ignoring The A.B.C. of Physical Culture and the books he 'ghosted')" (Hammond). Uncommon, Library Hub locates only six copies (BL, NLS, Cambridge, Liverpool, Leeds, Aberdeen); we were able to trace just three copies at auction, in 1977, 2008, and 2015. Small octavo. Original brown cloth-backed cream boards, titles printed in black to paper spine label, untrimmed. Light soiling to boards as often, the binding otherwise firm and square, internally clean and fresh; a very good copy indeed. Hammond A2.
