Scarce first edition of an anonymously compiled legal vade mecum for farmers and country gentlemen, with particular attention given to game laws, tithes, highways and turnpike roads, fishing, fish ponds and rivers, the manufacture of and duty on malt, and laws relating to the manufacture and retail of cyder, mum, perry, and hops. The work further gives details of "all the acts of parliament, and adjudged cases thereupon, relating to cattle, corn, hay, straw, timber and other trees, butter and cheese, and every other article in which the farmer or country gentleman is materially interested." A second edition was published the same year. Duodecimo (168 x 100 mm). Contemporary sheep, blindstamp double rule border to covers, board edges decorated with a gilt roll, spine unlettered. Front joint lightly rubbed, small chip to foot of spine; imprint date just shaved; a very good copy. ESTC T55599, locating 9 copies only. Not in Goldsmiths' or Kress.
