PETERS ELLIS - JOLYON CARR

  • Publisher: Herbert Jenkins
  • Published: 1940 , London
London: Herbert Jenkins, 1940. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. Publishers orange binding with black lettering to the front board and spine and which are ruled at the head and foot of the spine. A VG+ copy with offsetting to the end-papers and some light foxing to the page edges. The boards are bright and clean. The VG D/W is priced 8/3 net to the spine as called for. The D/W has several long closed tears and is creased and worn and the back panel has become detached. There are no major areas of loss, however, and the D/W looks quite attractive covered by mylar. With the ownership signature of the authors brother (Ellis Pargeter as E.E. Pargeter) on the FFEP. Described by Cooper and Pike as more than incidentally a detective story: it has a properly inquisitive young constable who solves a murder and traces a spate of anonymous letters to its source. Uncommon
