Paris: S.P., C1935. An original ink sketch of Montmartre / Sacré Coeur by Albert Lemasson. It shows the clearly identifiable horizon of the church. A quick sketch in ink, and signed in ink by the artist to the bottom right. Also signed to the bottom left. There is a description of the work in pencil by the artist. 25cm x 32cm. The work has clearly been removed from a sketch album. Overall a very clean sheet, with just a touch of darkening. A nice Paris sketch. Albert Lemasson was a French painter (1892-1982. He was classically trained and entered the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts in Paris in 1919. Lemasson specialized for about 25 years mainly in church decoration through frescoes, often working with his brother Paul Lemasson. Besides frescoes, he painted a variety of works including portraits, landscapes, and scenes from his travels in France, Italy, Spain, and Greece using oil, watercolor, ink, and other mediums. He exhibited his works in several galleries in Paris, Nantes, and Bordeaux over many decades. . Croquis original à l'encre de Montmartre / Sacré Coeur par Albert Lemasson. Il y a une description de l'œuvre au crayon par l'artiste. 25cm x 32cm. L'œuvre a clairement été retirée d'un album de croquis. Dans l'ensemble, il s'agit d'une feuille très propre, avec juste un peu de noircissement. Un beau croquis de Paris. Albert Lemasson était un peintre français (1892-1982). De formation classique, il entre à l'École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris en 1919. Lemasson s'est spécialisé pendant environ 25 ans dans la décoration d'églises au moyen de fresques, travaillant souvent avec son frère Paul Lemasson. Outre les fresques, il a peint des portraits, des paysages et des scènes de ses voyages en France, en Italie, en Espagne et en Grèce à l'huile, à l'aquarelle, à l'encre et dans d'autres médiums. Il a exposé ses œuvres dans plusieurs galeries à Paris, Nantes et Bordeaux pendant plusieurs décennies.
