The Remains of the Day

Ishiguro, Kazuo

  • Publisher: Faber and Faber
  • Published: 1989
  • Condition: Near Fine
First edition, first impression, signed by the author on the title page. A superb copy of Ishiguro's Booker Prize-winning novel, the work which confirmed his reputation as one of the foremost writers of his generation. Original black cloth, spine lettered in white. With the original dust jacket designed with a photograph of a pocket watch by Sam McConnell. A fine copy: the binding square, with bright white spine lettering; contents clean throughout. The jacket is notably well-preserved, showing only faint rubbing at the extremities and a trace of fading to the spine panel, but less than usual for this title, with a sticker to upper flap, else near fine or better. 'The Remains of the Day' was awarded the Booker Prize in 1989 and remains Ishiguro's most celebrated work, adapted into the acclaimed 1993 film starring Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson.
