Old Dutch and Flemish (72 volumes), New Dutch and Flemish (117 volumes), Old German (113 volumes) and New German (74 volumes). Hardback 'Hollstein' is a household name to all who study printmaking of Holland, Flanders and Germany. The mammoth reference work was begun by the eponymous print dealer in 1949 and remains the universally known standard reference work on the subject for scholars, dealers and collectors alike. The series enjoys a status shared with few other scholarly publications in that the numbering of prints and their states have been adopted by auction houses and print dealers in their catalogues.
