An edition limited to 150 copies of which 15 are specially bound by Julian Thomas and the remaining 135 are bound by John Sewell (as this copy is) in the -ordinary- binding, in quarter dark blue morocco with complementary cloth sides, and a printed paper panel inset into the upper cover. The title blocked in dark foil on the spine, with simple ornamentation in real gold and presented in its own VG+ slipcase. The edition has been printed on a special making of T. H. Saunders 100% cotton mould-made paper, and the engravings printed from the original blocks. The title-page design incorporates a wood-engraving of a feather, which has been blocked by Alan Wood in real gold. There are a total of 61 specially commissioned wood engravings: 31 full page (6" * 8"), 28 headpieces (2" * 2"), and two for the title page. These were printed from the original blocks: the title page feather engraving overlaid with gold leaf. 172 pp, 275 * 360 mm. Housed in the publishers cloth slipcase. One of the better offerings from Gwasg Gregynog. SEE-PAYNTON is widely regarded as the leading exponent of the art of wood engraving in the UK and lauded as a 'national treasure'. The V & A, Ashmolean, National Museum of Wales and National Library of Wales all hold significant collections of his work as do innumerable private collectors. A Fellow of the Royal Cambrian Academy, Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers and a member of the Society of Wood Engravers, he exhibits regularly in group and solo shows and is a frequent exhibitor at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. A monograph of his engraved work,'The Incisive Eye' was published in 1997 by Scolar Press as a [i:catalogue raisonne? of all his editioned prints from the period 1980-1996].

However this does not mean that automatically goods are sent out on approval. Any return is entirely the responsibility of the returnee, and the Post Office is the preferred carrier. Our bank account details can be supplied to purchasers. Mastercard, Visa, Solo & Maestro can be accepted for most transactions. Checks are welcome, but please allow 4 working days for them to clear, before we send the book. Payment can be accepted in currencies other than Sterling but please ask beforehand to agree. There are no export restrictions. CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS You may request to cancel a book order or return a book within 14 days of receipt of the book. A book may be returned for one of the following reasons: Item damaged: The item was damaged during shipping. Item not as described: The condition of the book does not match the description on Madoc Books. Incorrect item delivered: The title, cover or edition of the book is different than the title on the order. Item not received: The estimated delivery date has passed and the book has still not arrived. To cancel a book order or return a book simply contact Madoc with your order confirmation details and to obtain the return address. DELIVERY DETAILS We ship all of our orders via Royal Mail. Orders are usually shipped within 2 or 3 business days. Shipping costs are based on books weighing 2.2 LB, or 1 KG. If your book order is heavy or oversized or a multiple in books we will contact you to let you know that extra shipping is required. Insurance costs are usually dictated by the shippers, should they be higher than normal, then we will contact you for your acceptance.
