Janis Joplin: Goind Down With Janis

Caserta, Peggy

  • Publisher: Talmy Franklin
  • Published: 1975 , London
London: Talmy Franklin, 1975. A first edition, first printing published by Talmy Franklin in 1975. A very good book without inscriptions, some toning to the pages. In the rare dust wrapper, a little faded to the spine with some rubbing to the edges. Not price clipped. Janis Joplin was a legendary American singer-songwriter known for her powerful and soulful voice. Born in 1943 in Texas, she rose to fame in the late 1960s as the lead singer of the psychedelic rock band Big Brother and the Holding Company. Joplin's raw and emotive performances captivated audiences, earning her a reputation as one of the greatest female rock singers of all time. However, her life was marked by struggles with substance abuse and insecurity. Tragically, she died of a heroin overdose in 1970 at the age of 27, leaving behind a legacy as a trailblazing icon of the counterculture movement. No autobiography of Joplin exists and this, Caserta's account, is excessively scarce.
