Picart, dedication dated 1 May 1743, some marginal duststains; publisher's marbled boards, binding slightly loose, some material loss to spine, some wear to spine, otherwise good, presented in cloth backed portfolio box. The rare Zürich edition of this lavishly illustrated work, first published in 1727. The work opens with a series of 7 attractive plates of various horse breeds and their characteristics ('l'Andaloux', 'le Barbe', 'l'Allemand', 'Napolitain', 'Cheval Anglois', 'Cheval Turc', and 'l'Arabe'), while the remainder of the plates are accompanied by letterpress instructions on all manner of horseriding. The dedication is dated Zürich, 1 May 1743. Earlier editions have 59 plates, there being four plates of horse bits.
