An steel engraving illustrating the descent of the world's first hydrogen balloon in Gonesse (Val-d'Oise). This appeared in a special edition of Paris Illustre in 1885. Hand coloured. Framed in brown and gilt passe partout (unglazed). Plate dimensions 95 by 140 mm (3¾ x 5½ inches). Mount dimensions 220 x 255 mm (8¾ x10 inches).
