"One of the great African travel epics, this title details the author's trek from the coast toward Mt. Kilimanjaro, then through Masai Land. Near Lake Chala he bagged several rhinoceros and buffalo in close encounters, and buffalo again in the Lykipia Forest. One of the excellent engravings depicts Thomson thrown into the air by a charging bull.
