London; Field & Tuer, Ye Leadenhalle Press, &. C., 1885., 1885. Hard Cover. Pp. 119 [1] catalogue, plus 24 blank ruled leaves entitled 'Fysshe Stories' to rear. Hand-coloured woodcut illustrations by the author and his family throughout. Two-tone pictorial vellum with gilt titles; gilt stamped fish images to spine & upper board with angling scene to lower board. Labelled linen pockets to paste-downs for "Baccy, Lynes, Fysshe Tales I believe, Hookes & I's, More Baccy" etc to front and large linen pocket to rear for "Fysshe Stories I don't believe." Uncut. Unusually this copy has retained the linen ties. Covers lightly soiled with creasing and staining to spine. A little minor toning otherwise contents clean & bright. Abridged edition of The Compleate Angler with 36 songs and poems taken from the fifth edition. Arguably Crawhall's most ambitious work and certainly the most inimitable.
