  • Publisher: London : Macmillan & Co., 1933.
London : Macmillan & Co., 1933. First edition : [one of 2,000 copies]. A collection of over sixty poems, some of which had previously appeared in limited editions published in Dublin and New York. The collection includes some of Yeats' finest work - "Blood and the Moon", "Mad as the Mist and Snow", "Byzantium", "Coole Park, 1929", "The Nineteenth Century and After", "The Crazed Moon", "Quarrel in Old Age", "I Am of Ireland", the "Crazy Jane" and "A Woman Young and Old" sequences, etc. Crown 8vo (20cm). [2],(x),(102),[ii]pp. Original decorative cloth gilt in a handsome design by Thomas Sturge Moore (1870-1944); a few faint marks, but overall a very good copy in the matching Sturge Moore dust-jacket - the jacket lightly sunned, a little chipped, with a hole to spine neatly repaired with tissue backing. Contemporary (1934) gift inscription to Mary E. Scarlett and the later book-label of F. R. Furber - probably Frederick Robert Furber (1912-1972) of Bristol.
